Pronounced ‘ah-sah-hee’, meaning ‘rising sun’, this beers production process was developed in 1987 by Asahi Breweries Ltd in Japan and includes the use of corn and rice which, by causing a more complete fermentation process, produces a light crisp taste which has made it ‘Japan’s No.1 beer’.
Sampled on 11/08/2012
Clear, deep golden with thin white head which quickly dies to ring of foam and broken surface froth.
Subdued, what little aroma there is suggests metallic sweet corn with faint grassy hops.
Clean, dry and bland. Vague maltiness with some hop bitterness.
Short and dry.
