Address: 102 Street Marks Place, (btwn Ave A & 1st Ave), New York, NY, 10009, United States

Door: Open door/walk-ins
Style: Beer bar
Established: 2012

This long narrow space stretches back with copper topped back running most of the length of the room and a wall hung with framed tattoo art opposite. Proletariat is a tiny beer bar of some repute and despite its modest size, stocks a huge range of truly speciality beers for aficionados.

The menu helpfully lists brews under the following headings:
Crisp, Golden, Bright, Hoppy
Funky, Sour, Tart, Wild
New World, Experimental, Specialty
Robust, Malty, Dark, Roasted

Many of the beers listed on Proletariat's menu are truly special so many are over $40 a bottle. Those looking for familiar big brand beers will be disappointed but aficionados will find some very interesting brews.
