To quote the back label, “The only Trappist white beer in the world that is unfiltered and undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle. Pour the yeast into the glass when serving.” Which incidently should be at a temperature of 4-6ºC. Termed a white beer due to the use of mainly wheat malt.

Sampled before 1st May 2011

Appearance:

Cloudy, light straw-yellow with thick robust white head.

Aroma:

Floral, yeasty, citrus hops, fresh pineapple with coriander, faint green cardamom spice and spruce tree.

Taste:

Delicately clove spiced yeasty palate with vanilla buttered grilled pineapple.

Aftertaste:

Wheaty pineapple, pine and clove finish.
