Distilled and initially aged in Guatemala in American ex-whisky casks before being shipped to Cognac Ferraud's Château de Bonbonnet where the rum was transferred into casks previously used to age cognac and left in Cognac Ferraud's cool cellars for several months to a year.

Cognac Ferraud has long established relationships with some of the Caribbean's best distilleries due to selling them used cognac casks for ageing rum. Thus Alexandre Gabriel has over the years sampled many exceptional casks of rum and this led him to start buying the best examples and shipping them back to age at Cognac Ferrand in France.
