Serve in a

Coupe glass

Garnish:

Grapefruit zest

How to make:

Pour all ingredients except champagne in a shaker, fill with ice cubes, and shake for at least 10 seconds so all ingredients are well mixed.
Fine strain your cocktail into the chilled glass, add the champagne, and squeeze the grapefruit zest on top to discard the oils.

45 ml Patrón Silver blanco tequila
10 ml Briottet Crème De Pamplemousse Rose Liqueur
15 ml Martini Fiero
15 ml Lime juice (freshly squeezed)
15 ml Blood orange juice
5 ml Agave syrup
30 ml Brut champagne or sparkling wine

Origin:

The idea for this cocktail came out of a little experiment I was undertaking at the bar recently.
After my trip to Mexico in 2020, I was obsessed with finding the ultimate mix of citrus flavours for my margaritas. Patrón Silver works so well with all types of fresh fruits, so I thought it will be a shame to mix it just with lime. As long as the required level of acidity is fulfilled any additional citrus flavours will add different dimensions for any margaritas. So it started with a triple citrus mix of lemon, grapefruit and lime, and along the way I arrived at this variant. While maintaining the core of the original drink, with the Triple Sec / Cointreau at the modifier lever, being replaced by a mix of Martini Fiero and Pink Grapefruit Liqueur, and the lime getting a partner in crime with the blood orange juice. Agave syrup to round out the mouthfeel and balance that fizzy champagne. And Patrón Silver as the base for a crisp and fresh body.

P.S. The champagne is optional but I still have to find the person who chooses to leave it out.
