Launched in 2010, Russian Standard Gold is distilled from Russian wheat at a distillery on the outskirts of St Petersburg and flavoured by the addition of Russian ginseng, vanilla and cinnamon.
Russky Standart (Pyccкий Cтaидapт) is distilled to the Tsar's premium quality standard of 1894, as set by Professor Dmitri Mendeleev, and the bottle references that date (look carefully and you'll spot it) , and carries Mendeleev's signature. Presented in an embossed gold gift box, the bottle has a gold foiled label, its shape inspired by the 200 tonne bell commissioned by Tsarina Anna which stands at the foot of the Ivan, the Great Bell Tower in Moscow.

Crystal clear.
Clean, cracked black pepper spirit notes with delicate mineral – pavements just after rain – brioche, Weetabix and faint herbal notes.
Slightly sweet with pronounced, slightly aggressive black pepper and faint ginger hot spice. Creamy vanilla sits in the background adding to the soft mouth feel.
Black pepper prickly finish with faint herbal, perhaps ginseng, and cream-of-soda vanilla.
