Launched in 1980, this was the first beer released by De Dolle Brouwers. The name translates as 'The Mad Primeval Beer' and the producers say that is a reference to "the originality and purity of the beer". The specific gravity of the wort is 1078.
The producers say that while De Dolle Oerbier has an expiry date of two years after bottling by law, due to lactic acid bacteria from the yeast this beer will evolve if cellared for a number of years.
