Gabriel Boudier’s rhubarb liqueur is made uses its traditional method of infusing the fruit slowly with alcohol with the intention of creating strong natural aromas and rich colouring.
Sampled on 28/08/2012
Clear, bright golden.
Pungent turmeric spice with thyme, mint jelly and Bramley apple.
Boiled sweets and quince with only slight discernible rhubarb flavour. (There again what do you perceive rhubarb to taste like – rhubarb crumble? We suspect this liqueur seeks to mimic fresh raw rhubarb.)
White pepper and boiled sweets with faint raw rhubarb.
