This sloe gin is based on a London Dry Gin produced at London’s Thames Distillery using six botanicals: juniper, coriander, cassia, angelica, bitter orange peel and liquorice.

The Cremorne 1859 brand is the result of a collaboration between Richard Herbert and Stuart Ekins, the Co-founders of CASK Liquid Marketing, and artist Charlotte Cory, who has designed the labels. The 1859 date references Darwin’s publication of his ‘Origin of Species’ which shocked Victorians with the revelation that they were in fact animals. Around this period photography became cheap enough for ordinary people to have their picture taken, hence the Victorian characters Charlotte depicts on Cremorne’s labels are inspired by taxidermy and carte de visite, a business card-size photograph patented in Paris by photographer André Adolphe Eugène Disdéri in 1854.

The name ‘Cremorne’ refrences the Cremorne Pleasure Gardens (1845 to 1877) on the north bank of the River Thames in Chelsea, London. A small fragment of the park survives today at the southern end of Cheyne Walk.
