Sauvelle vodka is made at Audemus Spirits in France’s Cognac region using French wheat spirit which is filtered using three types of wood, including charred oak.

The brand’s press releases says the name Sauvelle comes from French for ‘wild and beautiful’ and proclaims itself to be “l'elixir du soir” (the evening elixir).

Launched 2015.

Crystal clear.

Μύτη:

Crusty white bready notes with cracked black pepper. Faint vanilla, anise and oak.

Στόμα:

Initially sweet before black pepper spice emerges, dries and dominates. Creamy mouthfeel, faint vanilla, dry oak and toasted almond.

Black pepper spice, faint oak and charcoal.

The tall slender gloss black bottle with its embossed gold detailing certainly looks luxurious and the brand’s black and white images of craft people are suitably edgy. As for the vodka, cracked black pepper dominates masking subtle vanilla and toasty notes. We liked the creamy mouthfeel.
