Launched August 2019, Cove Vodka is made from King Edward potatoes grown on the Lidstone family farm in South Hams, on the South Devon coast.

The family send their potatoes to the English Spirit Distillery in Essex where they are fermented and distilled to produce this vodka.

The stills used are copper hybrid stills with a 3-metre rectifying column producing a 96% alc./vol. distillate. This is reduced to bottling strength with Devon spring water.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 14/05/2020

Appearance:

Crystal clear. (sample bottle batch 1)

Aroma:

Clean with faint creaminess and perhaps faint crispy potato skin. Very light white pepper.

Taste:

Characterful and superbly clean. Think crispy potato skin and your taste it, with faint lime and delicate white pepper spice.

Aftertaste:

The palate fades to leave a delicate freshening spice with very faint apple and spearmint.

Overall:

Fresh, clean, characterful yet mellow. It could be that I know this vodka was made from potatoes, but I also taste crispy potato skin.
