Prounounced 'wu-meh-shoo', this is a traditional Japanese liqueur from Choya is flavoured with a type of Japanese plum, the ume. Actually a type of apricot, the Ume is only grown in Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan and the best fruits are grown in the Minabe district of Wakayama prefecture near Osaka.

Choya Umeshu is aged for 12 years and the bottle contains whole plums. The miniature version (5cl bottle) also contains a whole plum and has a natty rip top lid. It is sweetened with honey and contains no added sugar.
