Review

On a leafy street where graffitied flats meet boutique-fronted town houses, is a traditional neighbourhood bar - Salut!

The interior is an eclectic mix. It shouldn't work, but somehow it does. Tiffany lamps meet glitter balls, and oil paintings hang next to mounted boxfuls of trinkets.

Behind the bar, retro film clips are projected onto the wall: VW Beetles driving under railway bridges, an Alsatian licking its owner's face, bell-bottemed couples frolicking on a hillside.

The projection doesn?t have any sound, so it's accompanied with general bar tracks. Occasionally classics such as Lala and My Girl accidently fit the projections. This eclectic bar has eclectic music though, and it becomes quite a surreal experience when German rock starts blasting alongside to the vintage clips.

Each drink's served with a tumbler of water which is continually refilled. It?s a real braces and flat-cap establishment. Agricultural cool meets vintage Berlin. A good place to settle in for the night, have a great cocktail and make some new friends.
