Celebrated on the second Saturday in June, the day started in America as National Gin Day, but, led by Emma Stokes (AKA Gin Monkey) in the UK, it has taken on global significance. And rightly so, after all, Britain has exported the term London Dry Gin to the world, so the use of the word "World" on this celebratory day cannot be overstated.
Why the second Saturday in June was chosen is unknown, but World Gin Day now marks the start of World Gin Week, which concludes with World Martini Day on the third Saturday in June.
World Gin Day, today is a day to drink gin, rejoice with a refreshing G&T, and enjoy gin cocktails. What better way to start than with the classic Gin Fizz before one of our 20 best gin cocktails.
