Milk and dairy protein allergy & intolerance

Milk and dairy protein allergy & intolerance image 1

Milk is one of the most common food allergens and is one of the 14 major allergens mandatory to declare under UK and EU law.

Not just cow's milk but milk from sheep, goats, buffalo, and other mammals can also cause a reaction in those with a milk allergy. Milk allergies can range from mild to severe, from wheezing and digestive problems to severe, life-threatening reactions.

Milk allergy is different from milk protein intolerance and lactose intolerance, which don't involve the immune system. However, milk protein and/or lactose intolerance can induce digestive problems for sufferers.

When serving cocktails, please make your guests aware of those containing ingredients made with milk or milk products.
