My second bottle, with a large interval between and quite a bit of learning: I had definitely forgotten/not fully taken in the freshness and herbal zing and Angelica lift which interweaves itself amongst the maltwine. Superbly well balanced, clean and refined flavours. I’m curious how true this would be to historical genevers, but in itself it’s a superb product.
My chief complaint is the design of the mouth of the bottle, which I find makes it very hard to pour small quantities without spillage. Certainly at the start of the bottle.
I bought a bottle of this at my local Grocery Outlet. I was so psyched to see it after having such limited opportunities to taste and mix with authentic Genever, and having seen Mr. Difford award this 5+ stars. I think 5+ stars is about right. I assume it only turned up at the Grocery Outlet because people who do not understand the nuances that separate Gin from Genever bought it and then tasted it and assumed their latest 1.75 L of BeefEater had some off flavors.
