Made with Tanqueray and Cocchi Americano. The elderflower expression is potent without being overbearing. Added a half teaspoon of syrup to make up for the absence of Old Tom. Can't wait to try this with lime.
This is my new favorite cocktail. Made it for several guests at a recent gathering and it was a hit with everyone. I adjusted the quantities up to 1 oz to make it a more generous drink and easier to remember while mixing, as it is all equal parts. I used lemon juice concentrate to no ill effect and Empress Indigo gin which gave it a lovely blush color. It is a less edgier and complicated drink than the Corpse Reviver, which I also love, but lighter and easier to drink.
Just made something similar with Beefeater and Cocchi Americano 'cause that's what I had; and a split of lemon/lime juice... was a tiny bit tart, you know one of those lemons you think you could get more juice out of a golf ball. Added eight drops Absinte and the bitter seemed to balance the sour better. Guess it's time to get another bottle of Old Tom. Excellent combination!
