I'm slowly building the confidence to veer away from 'the authorised version' of recipes on here. Just made this (or something at a tangent from it) with Strega instead of yellow Chartreuse and corn liquor ('Mellow Corn') instead of the 'new make' Monkey Shoulder.
Was it anything like the original?

Be creative! I just made this with Sông Cái dry gin, saffron liqueur (Apologue), and mango chili liqueur (Matchbook 'Flamingo Riviera'). Also delicious.
(perhaps the white monkey made golden in this recipe?).
