What a delicious cocktail. I can only imagine what this would taste like were I lucky enough to source tree ripened sweet grapefruit as described in John Hinojos comment below. The simple syrup was therefore a must. Highly recommended if you enjoy a slightly sour cocktail.
A very good drink indeed, with a great balance between all ingredients. Both Chartreuse and grapefruit juice can overwhelm in a drink, but here they combine harmoniously to make something better than the sum of its parts. I found that the Gin came closer to the fore as the drink warmed up.
This was excellent. Liking our cocktails on the dry side, we left out the sugar syrup as our grapefruit is tree ripened and sweet. Wonderful for a pre-dinner cocktail with a nice cheddar, vegetables, tart apple slices, and whole grain crackers. Perfect for an autumn evening.
Had this tonight and agree; a delicious cocktail. I can only imagine though what this would taste like were I lucky enough to have tree ripened sweet grapefruit!
