This is one of our favourite Summer Sunday afternoon cocktails to offer friends at a party. It's so simple to make and a pretty green. If you run out of Gin, as we recently did because everybody wanted a Last Word or Gin and Tonic, then just substitute for the Gin a Tequila and Mezcal mix (we did a 15ml to 10ml ratio). Pushes it towards a Japanese Slipper Margarita but who's complaining?
Also, why are there so few recipes here that incorporate Genepi? Is it because it is considered a poor man's version of Chartreuse? For all sorts of reasons, this would be absurd.
We think this is a beautifully balanced cocktail. Perfect fun for a sunny Sunday afternoon BBQ. We experimented with two variants: substituting Italicus and then Acqua Bianca for the Genepy. We kept to the proportional measure in both cases: 22.5ml. Both we enjoyed, although the one with Italicus being perhaps slightly less complex than the original and the one with Acqua Bianca slightly less balanced.
