A riff on a Vieux CarrĂ©, this recipe uses aged, pot still rum and smoky black cardamom to deepen the flavors

Innovation Quarter is the name of the university research district in which our bar was located. The name made me think of Vieux Carré (loosely translated from the French: old quarter) and inspired this innovation on a classic. Black cardamom is worth seeking out for its smoky flavor; one can usually find it online. Cardamom bitters will suffice in a pinch. Enjoy!
