I love every single component of this cocktail, but together it's just slightly underwhelming. Maybe I used the wrong port but it's not enough to balance the other ingredients.

I've been making something similar to this for many years. The bar I learned it from considered it a riff on a Manhattan and thus named it the "Port Authority, " which is too perfect a name not to share.

This was a great cocktail. The port basically was there to round out the bite of the bourbon…basically a smooth old fashion (I used a bonded bourbon).

Very nice. Used it as an aperitif and it was wonderful with a nice Red Leichester cheese. The touch of port and maple added to the smoothness.

Nice cocktail for Thanksgiving. I used Bitter Truth Jerry Thomas Decanter Bitters which worked well.
