Bold is accurate. Unlike another review, the chartreuse and maraschino are up front, with a hint of absinthe right there. It's good….but dangerous.
I like that it has a unique tasting profile, def mezcal forward, 8.2/10 for me.
I was shocked with the first sip. hard to pick out the notes. The more I drank it, the more I appreciated it. One of the more unique tasting drinks I've had in a while. I liked it.
I agree with the other, lemon is a bit powerful in this, hiding the elderflower. I swapped the lemon and elderflower ratios, and still felt it a bit oo lemon forward. Good, easy drinking drink though.
I quite liked it! Did 0.25 oz less lemon juice and triple sec, and it was perfect.
Just had this, as the last post mentioned, shocked how balanced it was! That funky S&C banana note was well matched by the bitterness and herbal-ness. A banger for me!
Loved this drink. Used Monkey Shoulder, Cocchi, and Campari, and had no orange, so used a lemon peal…it was excellent!! Surprised how cocoa flavours were coming out.
Careful with the absinthe…I did a light wash, poured any remaining out, and I feel it still overpowered my drink…maybe I needed a higher proof rum that the Barbados rum I used. Much easier drinking though that expected…might up the peated scotch next time!
Great drink. I would lower the Herring a bit to lower the sweetness, bump up the fernet a hint to add the funk, and maybe another 0.25 of bourbon.
Excellent sipper. Very smooth, easy to drink. I used a 12 year Cragganmore and it paired excellent.
Really enjoyed this one. After drinking a rum old fashion, this went down extremely smooth, and almost felt light on the booze. I will be coming back for this one…maybe add more bitters next time.
Lots of "burn" to this drink…Smith & Cross may be too much for some…12 year Eldorado is a good sub to make this drink a bit more smooth.
Honey herbal liqueur, Maple syrup, Light white rum, OP high ester aged pot still rum, Aromatic bitters
I used 12 year El Dorado, 3 star Plantation, used a spoon of Dram to replace the Falernum, and a touch of maple syrup for the sugar, (and 2 dashes of angostura), and a lime peal…it tasted successful! A great rum sipper.
This was a great cocktail. The port basically was there to round out the bite of the bourbon…basically a smooth old fashion (I used a bonded bourbon).
