I will give this a try but using my favourite peaty whisky Laphroaig and I only think of clansmen as wearing Kilts!

I completely agree with all of you and I understand why it’s named the way it is, just had to take a beat to get there. Anyway, got around to actually trying it with a super peaty Ardbeg that I had on hand and it’s really tasty.

I’m not sure it matters. The people who mistakenly link the name with the KKK would be wrong.
The Scottish clans predate the band of slack-jawed, racist, inbred rednecks by more than a thousand years. I think that gives them ownership of the term ‘clansman’. On top of which, if someone does make an incorrect assumption and asks their barkeeper about the origin of the name, it makes a good talking point.
