A Gin Sour sweetened with orange liqueur. Harry Craddock's original 1930 recipe calls for 1 part lemon, 1 part triple sec, and 2 parts gin. Depending on...
Clearing out my fridge. I used up my remaining gin, added four dashes of local bitters, a splash/jigger of triple-sec and it was pretty good. A bit of googling and I discovered this cocktail was pretty close so added a the juice of half a desiccated lemon and wow that made such a difference!! Alas I have no more gin, so unable to repeat with a more scientific follow-up but this cocktail is well worth experimenting with methinks!
She's a boozy one! It's good as written but not mind-blowing. What I really like about it is it's very gin-forward, so the gin you choose will very much affect the character of it. The overall balance of sweet, aromatic, and sour is good. It supports the gin's character.
Wonderful cocktail. Great for gin lovers and novices. Not overly sweet and the orange and lemon with the herbal. Delightful.

Very accessible . A perfect balance of sweet orange, bitter lemon which together with the colour of the end result makes for a very pleasant pre dinner cocktail for gin drinkers.
