A 5:1Dry Martini made with sweet vermouth - sweet in name but drier than the cherry garnish might indicate

Great to compare to the Gin & It. At the risk of sounding obvious, this one is definitely a martini in flavour and style. I also went with a lemon twist, and a tiny spritz of orange bitters. 50/50 Punt e Mes and Carpano on this occasion. As the other DD’s commented, dangerously drinkable! Knocked it back by a third as it’s a school night, but immediately tempted to make another!

What a fantastic drink! I can't quite believe it's getting so little attention compared with the Gin & It, which it trumps so easily. I'll be using this to roadtest any new sweet vermouth that comes my way. I did switch in a twist of lemon, instead of the cherry - more in keeping with a proper grown-up and phenomenally dry, but balanced, cocktail, I felt. As John Hart says, dangerously smooth - in a VERY good way!
