Created in 1920 in the Castello district of Venice at Pilla Distilleries. Select is made with a blend of 30 botanicals including juniper berries and rhubarb...
While it’s might be a tad too sweet for me (at least subjectively, even though Strega 900 was almost syrupy-like, Select detects as being sweeter) it’s got a surprisingly intriguing floral character, unlike any other aperitif I’ve had before. Makes me wanna see if it would behave well in an Old pal formula
The lower price led me to not trying this, but it’s an equally worthy product with the other aperitifs and vermouths. In many ways more approachable and versatile than Campari, tho the latter’s intensity has a special quality unto itself. Loved the floral and delicate berry notes, as well as rhubarb here. ‘One for the album’
