If you "accidentally" overdose the rum - like I did, silly me! - it works perfectly well as a nightcap too!
What a glorious drink! Made it in the most inappropriate of seasons (early Spring) but gave me great satisfaction all the same. This will become a favourite evening go-to!
Cocktail is excellent (tried on a late Winter/early Spring sunny day and it worked like a charm) but the choice of glass might need reviewing: I think it would work better in a double old-fashioned/tiki glass with ½ the amount of ice.
Served it to an old Irish lady who came for dinner (took the pledge as a young lass and never touched alcohol since) and was thoroughly approved!
This makes for a glorious nightcap - had it with Del Maguey Vida on a Friday night after a long week and a long day of Winter gardening in the cold and it did do the trick!
This to me is an improved - indeed, much improved! - version of a Café Maria Theresia, only cold and oh so drinkable!
Lives up to its name - very woody! Still, once that first taste fades, you get all the complication from the birch water and mastiha. Very refreshing and palate cleansing, I can definitely see it working as an after dinner drink!
Out of necessity (read: that's what I had in the house at the time) I made this with Borghetti rather than Kahlua or Galliano and boy, it did work well!
