A classic!
I’m trying to finish up my open vermouth before attempting Dry January, and made a variant of this with Amaro Montenegro instead of Campari that was also lovely; less bitter than the original, with the complexity of the vermouth really shining through to complement the floral notes form the Montenegro. I’ll call it the Bologna - Torino (Bo-To) for now :)
Fantastic! Fruity and easy to sip, but still with some complexity and body. Might add a little extra Benedictine next time around, as I feel it’s getting a bit lost amongst the fruit/sweet
Really liked this one! Good for folks who aren’t into spirit forward cocktails. Citrus and maple syrup combine perfectly to balance the cognac and Benedictine. Adding this to the rotation.
Perfect, my favorite Blood and Sand recipe that I've tried. I like using a nice Islay for the float, and think the float is really what makes this recipe.
Tried this one on a whim and loved it. The vermouth + Heering round out the bourbon + rye in a really nice way, and the absinthe rinse adds just a tinge of an herbal note.
I thought this was a good twist on the Blood & Sand, though truthfully I'd usually rather drink a Blood & Sand than this. The flavors are really well balanced though, you can taste the agave spirits without any edge, but my indifference towards tequila prevents me from appreciating that balance too much. I think this would actually be fantastic in a highball though, it hits that boozy + refreshing + slightly sweet spot that benefits from some crisp carbonation. Will report back after I try it.
Tried this combination and found it quite smooth and balanced, if a little on the one dimensional side. A good drink for just wanting something simple and enjoyable, as it's not the most stimulating flavor profile. The cognac and rum balance out almost perfectly, leaving the orange to really shine through; I would definitely recommend using good orange juice. Will try highballing this one next time, I think the flavor is perfectly suited for carbonation and some extra volume.
Whilst I am a HUGE fan of filthy/dry/vodka martinis and lately gibsons, sometimes, I fancy something a tad sweeter and less like rocket fuel ...and this fits the bill perfectly plus it´s a doddle to make. Thank you Mr Difford.
Big +1 to this! The "sherry-like" description is fitting. A nice take on a martini to mix it up for someone like me who usually prefers them nice and dry.
Really like this one. Love the twisted balance, the perfect ratio of gin/vermouth/campari is rounded out nicely by the absinthe. Have added it into my rotation.
