Sweet Louise

As my wife is called Louise this my go to. Sweet, slightly tart and girly, she loves them. As passion fruit are so much more readily available now this is a good one. Ten years ago this would have been the province of cocktail bars only. The only change I have made is to use Disaronno as the amaretto. Otherwise made as is.

While looking for decent stirred cocktails I discovered this one. Using a decent spanish brandy as a base (At least Fundador!) and starting upwards. First tried Pain D'Epice in with Frangelico in absence of Creme de Noyauy, but settled without the Pain as it was too sweet. Initialy did this martini style as I am not a great fan of too diluted drinks. So far find this nicely nutty and not hideously sweet. As I refine I will report back. Could this cocktail be a platform for other nut based drinks?

Renewed my acquaintance with this drink this weekend and the diet is out of the window and I will chastise myself on Monday. I have added a couple of dashes of orange bitters too "orange out". I also have Fentimans Valencian orange tonic. Will try with this to see if the drink becomes too bitter. I do not have too sweet a tooth so this may work. Will report back on my findings. If this works could it be a Flucky Duff?

My Wife says is goes down easy. As she is a tequila monster no wonder. I made this to the recipe with Rooster Rojo tequila and Briottet Creme de Casis de Dijon. I realise Patron is the standard for the site but would take advice on the Reposado. I wonder how this would work with either a ginger syrup or ginger wine (Stones/Church's) and soda water as the dilutant.

Still learning about Irish Whiskey. This is my favourite thus far. It is very smooth with a warmth rather than a bite. I realise that there is more than Bushmills or Jamesons. Open to suggestions and other advice.

Interesting combination. Made this with Monkey Shoulder and Rochester Ginger. Whisky is prominent, not much Kwai Fei or ginger flavour. There is a ginger heat though. May have a play with this one. Maybe use root ginger or ginger bitters if available.

This is my go to cocktail when I can't think of anything else to make. I have experimented with several apricot brandies/gins. So far I have found the tastiest to be using Abricot de Rousillon and Hotspur Gin from Northumberland. My standard is standard Tanqueray but have tried it with Malacca version of that gin and several others. As I have a slightly sweeter tooth I omit the lemon juice as a decent orange juice is acidic enough to balance for me. It's personal preference. Open to options and variations with the ingredients. I have been told this is good with a combination of mandarin and orange juices but so far have not tried it.

Not my favourite, but this could be my Wife's new, new best friend. Never thought I had married a tequila monster. Nice and fruity with Smoky aftertaste. Be careful of the tequila, use cheap stuff and you will ruin this cocktail as it predominates.

Unusual balance for this cocktail. Surprising in complexity. Would this benefit from a drop of lime juice to season the cocktail and bring the aromatics to the fore?

A certain shop actually sells a tea blend named Lady Grey which I have in the house. Having a play tonight but at first go it seems a little more refined than standard Earl Grey. May reduce the sugar and lemon slightly to stop the tea getting swamped. Will report back later.

I followed the recipe exactly with exception of substituting the Remy Martin for a Cardenal Mendoza Solera Gran Reserva. Unbelievably good, the brandy starts at the beginning then the other ingredients fill in the middle then the raisined brandy finishes off at the end. Fabulous but expensive. Not to be used very often. Anyone suggest any other decent brandies to try with this cocktail?

This is full girly petrol, super unleaded. If you want dial it back a bit, only use 1/2 shot of vodka. Depends on personal taste.

For my Wife, pure girly petrol. When she's drinking this I will not mention chocolate cake or anything else chocolate. Had to be very careful with the amount of frangelico or it would be too much. I wonder how this would work if whipped up with hazelnut yoghurt or just normal greek yoghurt, as a dessert of course.

I used J.J. Whitley Mango & Papaya Gin and 6/7 good size chunks of fresh mango, chopped up and muddled in the tin. Cut back on the lemon juice (1 shot) as this may be over acidic with fresh fruit. Garnish with one chunk pineapple and 1 of mango. The garnish should be dipped in the drink and eaten in one go to get the full flavour hit. Enjoy, feedback welcome.

My Wife's new best friend. Better with fresh raspberries but will do with frozen. Tries with Absolut and Whitley Niell raspberry vodkas. The better one is with Absolut.
