This is an intense cocktail for the discerning drinker. Subtly complex and deep. I used what I had (Planteray/Plantation dark rum) and found it to be an interesting and wonderful experience. Not an everyday or regular cocktail for me but when you have the necessary ingredients I can highly recommend at least giving it a go. Don’t skip on the garnish.

I made mine with Campari, Dolin rouge and 2-3 drops on 20% saline to adjust the bitterness to my liking. Honestly didn't miss the Gin too much. Very tasty low ABV cocktail.
Update: Don't do orange juice. The drink turns flat.
I completely agree, the orange juice takes away from the vibrancy of the lemon and honey and dulls the funk of the rum. at least for my tastes anyway.
I always found a G&T to be quite an unbalanced cocktail, for my taste anyway. Whilst I ultimately think I just can’t get along with the tonic water in general I have settled on a 1:1 ratio which I think achieves a nice balance of complex aromatics, bitterness and tartness from your preferred citrus garnish.
