Martini used Monin Butterscotch Syrup with added salt as his special ingredient. I've replaced with Monin Syrup and added saline solution to the ingredients.

Where, or what, is "Special Ingredient #1"?
I tried the above version and a second version with Luxardo Bitter Bianco instead of dry vermouth. The original was somewhat tepid, as already mentioned here, but with the Bitter Bianco it was quite interesting. I will try 1 oz Bitter Bianco instead of 1.5 oz the next time...
I followed the recipe and ended up with a very strong mezcal flavored drink. Seemed even at 1/2 ounce to overpower the drink or maybe that is the flavor
It depends on the mezcal you use; more mineral flavor or more smokey...
I think this can be a excellent cocktail!
If done with a quality pear liqueur the pear flavor is there but not overpowering.
