I think this has to be sipped in the proper setting. A dingy dive bar allowing fumar? I made mine with Punt e Mes, which I thought I'd like best, and I was luckily rewarded.

I, too, went for the Punt e Mes, as it is truly my favorite vermouth/amaro! And your comment regarding smoking made me reach for my mezcal—just a half teaspoon to give the last quarter of my Bonsoni a new little twist!
