I have added a link to the US version of Salers above. Please be aware that not all Salers liqueurs are created equal.

Thank you for that edit and thanks for the heads up about the different versions of Salers. Looks like Salers joins Zubrowka, Dubonnet, etc.

Brilliant drink. Shapiro made this with Salers, as did I, and I don't think Suze or Aveze would work as well given their significantly more prominent citrus notes. I really wish this site would specify Salers when it is called for by the creator of a drink instead of the generic "Gentian Liqueurs" label.

A very nice drink to make with my recently acquired bottle of Lucano. This might also work well with Braulio. Everything is very harmonious! My only quibble is that the coconut water thins out the drink and my tastes run toward the boozier end of things.

I wonder if I could get away with cutting it to 2/3 oz? Maybe boiling down the coconut water?

This is delicious and very refreshing! Basil and cherry tomatoes came from a friend's garden; unclear what type of basil other than both it and the tomatoes were picked fresh!

Used Plantation 3 Star and opted for pickle brine over olive as it felt brighter. Borderline savory cocktail. Probably could pare the orgeat to 1/4 so I didn't need 2 jiggers but a logistical quibble.

Made it exactly as written and thought it was too sweet. 1 or 1/2 tsp of simple syrup should be adequate. Smooth, balanced and rather subtle. Opens up nicely after the pour.

Tom cat gin substitutes for the bourbon quite nicely in this cocktail.

Yes, Barr Hill Tom Cat is what I use. I also lower the lime juice to 1/2oz and increase the Falernum up to 3/4 or 1oz. I would make that modification with bourbon or tom cat as the recipe as written is too acidic for my taste.
