I made my own mandarin liqueur and decide this was a good cocktail test (using the ingredients I had). This drink was bright, full, dominant, intense in every positive way possible. However, I couldn't give it a higher rating for a lack of complexity. Very, very solid drink.

I think there are a lot of ways you could change or improve on this recipe. My first gut reaction was to express and discard a lime peel over the drink which brought out the bright notes in the citrus more. you could also reduce the amount of lime to make the bourbon more pronounced or reduce the simple to make it into more of a sour. Good as is but could definitely be improved on.

This was very good and loved that the three flavours could be distinguished. The sweetness will be dictated by the sweetness of the apple juice. While it was a tad sweeter for us, we did add 3 - 4 drops of grapefruit bitters and it lessened the sweetness and brightened the three flavours.

After your recommendation I tried the same thing, after adding a squeeze of lemon juice, and it opened the flavors much more than before and made it significantly more palatable. Thank you for the recommendation!

It felt flat so I added a orange peel twist on top of the lemon peel twist that made it taste more 3 dimensional. For people who are looking for a cocktail that simulates a peach tea, I would 100% recommend as long as you use higher quality ingredients or add something like I did to round it off.

it is a good drink but the taste of the peppermint liquor is a overly dominant taste when (in my opinion) it should be complementing all the other ingredients in the drink. i would recommend changing it to 1/6 ounce instead of a 1/4 ounce to be more complementary.

for a collins drink it hits all the notes that are important, but to taste the elderflower and maraschino is slightly held back because of (in my opinion) an excess of lemon juice. if i were to make the drink again i would do a 2/3 ounce of lemon juice instead to allow the more subtle notes to come through.
