Part of the Heineken International stable of breweries, Pelforth is a French brewery founded in 1914 and originally named Pelican before changing its name in 1972. It was purchased by Français de Brasserie in 1986 who in turn were bought by Heineken International in 1988.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 09/11/2011

Appearance:

Clear with slight sedimentation in suspension, light amber with head which quickly fades to little more than lacing and circle of foam.

Aroma:

Light, fermenting cereal, white bread dough nose with some cider apple fruit.

Taste:

Crisp palate but with fat cider/apple pie flavours and a slightly metallic note.

Aftertaste:

Bitter cider bite to the strangely meaty, gently hoped finish.
