A high proportion of Chardonnay is a hallmark of the Taittinger style and Brut Réserve is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier. The blend is typically has 20% reserve wines, dosage is 10g per litre. Brut Réserve is aged on the lees for a minimum of 3 years before release.

The House of Forneaux, as Taittinger's predecessor was called, originated in 1734 and was one of the first Champagne houses. Pierre-Charles Taittinger acquired the house in 1932 and the splendid La Marquetterie chateau in 1934. Pierre-Emmanual Taittinger is now responsible for running the company which holds 228 hectares of vineyard including holdings in six grand cru in the Côte des Blancs.

Aparência:

Clear, very pale golden with small persistent bubbles.

Aroma:

Delicate yeasty biscuit with brioche, honeysuckle and lemon meringue zestyness.

Sabor:

Dry, sharp acidity – under ripe apples cooking apples with biscuit, crème brûlée, hints of toasted almond and faint honey.

Aftertaste:

Acidity elegantly balanced by a slight honeyed sweetness in a long fresh finish.
