Storing Sherry

Sherry is a wine and should be handled in much the same way as any other white wine. Store unopened bottles in a cool, dry, dark place. Refrigerate before opening and serve chilled.

Once open, sherries should be resealed, ideally with a Vacu Vin stopper or similar, and the air removed or replaced with an inert gas. The resealed bottle should be stored in a refrigerator.

Fino sherry is best drunk young, so should be enjoyed soon after bottling. It should be served chilled and the bottle should be finished within a week of opening. Amontillados and sweeter styles will last longer and should be served at room temperature, but ideally consumed within ten days of opening.
