Known in Italy as "Marasche al frutto" (literally 'cherries to the fruit'), these are the Marasca cherries used by Luxardo for distilling its renowned Maraschino liqueur, but here preserved in a jar, 50% candied cherries and 50% syrup. No thickening agents or preservatives are used.

The old-fashioned-looking 400 gram (14.1oz) jars have a shelf life of three years. Once opened, keep the jar closed in a cool, dry place. Despite the label advising against it, we store ours in a refrigerator between uses.

Όψη:

Black cherries in thick deep red, almost black, syrup.

Μύτη:

Rich cherry with a whiff of amaretto-like almond and smoke.

Στόμα:

Sweet, unctuous cherry and jammy fruit with faint almond nuttiness.

Επίγευση:

Sweet, marzipan-like cherry jam finish.
