The fourth instalment of Jack Daniel's renowned Tennessee Calling cocktail competition which celebrates Jasper 'Jack' Daniel creating his famous Tennessee whiskey with help and mentorship from Lutheran Minister Dan Call. Jack's entrepreneurism led him to also own two bars in downtown Lynchburg, The White Rabbit and the Red Dog Saloon
The Red Dog Saloon was a Tennessee dive bar personified, offering a warm welcome and a cold drink accompanied by a soundtrack provided by the Silver Coronet House band. The White Rabbit, with its refined cocktails and the well-heeled clientele, was considered the most elegant bar in Tennessee.
Jack Daniel's, Jack's whiskey, sat equally well in both his establishments and today sits as comfortably in the world's best hotel bars as it does in your favourite rock and roll dive bar.
Resurrecting the two saloons of Jack Daniel - White Rabbit and Red Dog - 12 finalists were selected to go head-to-head in two teams of six over two nights duringL ondon Cocktail Week, under the mentorship of industry stalwarts, Tom Loosli from Original Sin and Rich Hunt from Mint Gun Club.
The teams were judged by Erik Lorincz and Cam Dawson on the themes of entrepreneurship, creativity, quality and consistency, with the winning team, The White Rabbit, discovering the home of Jack Daniel's and the trip of a lifetime in Nashville and Lynchburg, Tennessee.
Unlike other competitions, there is no first, second or third – instead, the full team of six winners were flown to Lynchburg, Tennessee to explore the home of Jack Daniel's.
