Back in the 1860's, Lynchburg Lutheran Minister Dan Call, together with Distiller Nearest Green, taught a young Jasper 'Jack' Daniel the secret of making great whiskey. With Dan's mentorship, Jack went on to build a thriving enterprise. Today, 150 years later, Jack Daniel's is one of the world's leading whiskey brands. To celebrate Jack's own mentorship, Jack Daniel's is set to inspire the next generation of bartenders with Tennessee Calling II...
Three bartenders from the North of England will discover the history, craft and versatility of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey so that they can create their own story. Travelling to the USA, the three winners will then be given the unique opportunity to meet their bartending heroes and hone their craft on a trip to Tennessee and New York, helping them reach their full potential.
The first leg of their journey to Tennessee will see the winners visit New York City, to experience for themselves, how the best in the business run their bar. Working with their mentors, the three winners of Tennessee Calling will create, plan and host an event at New York’s multi-award winning The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog. The winners will then travel to Lynchburg, Tennessee for the ultimate distillery experience at the historic Jack Daniel Distillery.
Watch our video above of one of last year’s winners, Ryan Mowat from Kelvingrove Café in Glasgow, as he shares his incredible experience.
Tennessee Calling II launched at The Liverpool Sessions on 26th October 2017 and bartenders were given just three weeks to create a Jack Daniel's cocktail that tells a story inspired by The Liverpool Sessions.
Of the record number of entries, the following ten finalists have been selected. Nidal Ramini, Erik Lorincz, Cam Dawson and Simon Difford will visit the shortlisted bars on the 27th and 28th November to assess these ten cocktails to select the three most deserving winners.
