First of all I want to apologize. Many of my cocktail tellings, when the first are ok. But it seems that after 3 or 7 cocktails my spelling bee is fumigated and no longer able to humm or speak properly, since I am not a native speaker I do my best. Sorry for that.
Ok, this is strange. Very strange. In Mexico we do not have Advocaat but we have rompope that it seems is in the vein. This is very good: in the way of a lemon pie, bitter but sweet -I didn't ad the extra sugar syrup- since the rompo-advo is very sweet already. Very herbal too, and generally lovely. Maybe I will never do it again, since I want to do each and everyone of the recipes in the Diffordsguide before I die.
I'm keen to try Rompope, but I've not seen it in the UK. Made with eggs, milk, vanilla flavouring, and rum, it does indeed sound similar to Advocaat, which is made with egg yolks, sugar and vanilla with brandy and neutral spirit. The key differences being the base spirits and the inclusion of milk in Rompope.
