As the name suggests, Hendrick's Flora Adora is a floral gin, released on 1st March 2023 as part of Hendrick's Cabinet of Curiosities limited edition collection
A very special gin. I kind of love it, even though I fully agree that the rose is here, there and everywhere, because it's unique. It's almost to be treated like a full Jamaican rum such as S&C in that you can use it as an accent in combination with other gins. Really great to include in any summer gin cocktail.
Overwhelmingly soapy. I don't mind floral, but this smells more like a sanitizer than a spirit. It makes a decent and unusual Negroni (where it brings out grapefruit notes), and it plays fairly nicely with lemon in a Corpse Reviver No. 2 or White Lady, but straight up or with tonic it's a little overpowering.
Blech. All I taste and smell is rose. Like waaayyy overkill rose water, but worse bc it’s supposed to be gin. I get the concept, but totally not tasty, especially for Hendrick’s. However, the label design, as always, is flawless.
Potently floral, Flora Adora may be compared to something like a Creme de Violette with no attendant sweetness. I like it, but it's a polarizing gin if popular reviews are taken into account. That said, I suggest treating this as a flavor modifier and not the base spirit of the cocktail. Add 20ml to a Vesper or Negroni in place of 20ml of the called-for London Dry and you'll see what I mean.
