They ruined King’s Ginger. Why the need to ‘fix’ something that isn’t broken. We enjoyed sipping King’s Ginger during our cold winter months in the shores of Lake Superior. It had a smooth ginger flavor. It was a complex mix of ginger, orange, and vanilla flavors. The new one hits you like a slap in the face. It’s sharp. It can only be used in a mixed drink. I am so disappointed. Anyone have the old recipe?

Is Stone's Original a decent sub for the King's?

No, Stone's is a quite different product. Please click "See more Ginger liqueurs" above for alternatives.

Wholeheartedly agree with all the below comments.
I only discovered the original Kings Ginger a few years back and it rapidly became one of my favourite tipples. Great drunk neat, in a ginger Martini, long with soda, whatever to your fancy.
Sang its virtues to many friends who also loved it and started buying it.
The revised recipe and reduced alcohol is simply not a patch on the original. It is now overly sweet and un-balanced.
Very disappointed..

This used to my absolute favourite drink. Would be happy to pay more for the old versuon if the changes were merely about the profit margin because this new version is a travesty. Why change an absolute classic?

this used to be a) nicer, b) stronger and c) in a better bottle. Time for someone to make a better ginger liqueur.

I opened a new bottle last night and was so, so disappointed. I used to enjoy my King's Ginger as a liqueur over ice or neat, a treat on a winter's evening for sure. New bottle looks beautiful (nothing wrong with the old one though!) but gone is the glorious warm ginger and citrus taste that was beautifully balanced by the smooth honey. Instead, it was like drinking a ferocious ginger toddy designed to clear your nose and burn your throat!. Will definitely NOT be buying another bottle.

Can't believe they changed the recipe. So disappointed. We have been drinking King's Ginger since we discovered it at BBR several years ago. Why would you change a historic, classic recipe?

Why?!?! King's Ginger was a beautifully unique, high quality drink. This new product is inferior in every way. Lower alcohol, diluted and poorer taste, more expensive, smaller bottle. I will never buy this new product and am sad to see a genuinely wonderful product gone forever for the sake of higher margin.
