Originally made with Poire William liqueur, hence this version calls for a little sugar. We've also taken the liberty of adding a dash of Creole-style...
I used a half oz of pear liqueur (and no sugar) in lieu of the eau de vie, and substituted a Japanese gin for the vodka; this was great, and the peychaud's brought as much to the pallette as it did the eyes
It's a cool cocktail for sure. It's does taste a bit like lychee a Steven said. The pear is surprisingly present, working wonders with the sake. Next time I think I'll make 2/3s of a cocktail and add half a cl of citrus juice to make it less candy.
I used Sakura Masamune Honjozo Sake but otherwise followed recipe - the Peychaud's does provide a lovely pink tint.
Served with a side of Sake (it was a brand new bottle) this is glorious. Weirdly I got Chinese plum and lychee but just a complete Oriental mouthful of flavours. Stick to the quantities this is a Vodka Martini even if very wet and sweet - Amazing
