Vintage goodness. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. A very nice interplay of the freshness versus rounded qualities of the respective ingredients. The lime I had was a particularly good one, balancing the fading tail end of a bottle of Byrrh. Used the lime as garnish too- zing city, man!
Excellent cocktail. I would say that while it has been suggested it is too Dubonnet forward and maybe only 1 oz needed, I think it benefits with a full 1 1/4 oz as per the recipe to balance the acidity of the lime. Also, I would suggest not too long a shake, as while I generally do so for the cold, for me this drink suffers if too dilute.
Wow! Ever since Simon gave us the 100th anniversary of Princess Mary's Pride (my excuse to finally go out and get a bottle of Dubonnet) I have been trying Dubonnet based cocktails, and this one is just perfect! The Queen mother obviously knew what she liked!!!!!
