What would be a close substitute for this Amaro? I live in the literal and figuative desert of Utah, it is very difficult to find unique liquers and amaros here!

Sounds like more of a case of the best option from what you're able to access. Averna perhaps.

Not as sweet as Averna, it makes a crisper Black Manhattan and my favorite, the Manhattan Transfer (Difford’s recipe).
