One of my absolute favorite cocktails. I find it especially tasty with a barrel-rested gin rather than a dry gin!

I upped the gin to 2 oz, with 1/2 oz Vermouth, 1/2 oz St Germain, 2 dashes orange bitters and it tastes great!
I did the same John. Very nice martini riff, I’m adding this one to my rotation!
What would be a close substitute for this Amaro? I live in the literal and figuative desert of Utah, it is very difficult to find unique liquers and amaros here!
I have been a gin-bourbon/whiskey- tequila recipe guy and decided I needed to introduce rum to my list. This seemed like a good pick and I’m very happy with it - good balance, not too sweet, though next time I’ll use a longer aged rum for a stronger flavor profile. I used Appleton Estate dark Jamaica rum.
This is a really nicely balanced “wet-ish” martini. I will definitely be putting this in my regular rotation!
I am just back from visiting New Orleans and had this cocktail in several bars (tho the Carousel Bar was not one of them). One was served up in a chilled cocktail glass, at the other two it was on the rocks, and I've seen recipes from several sources differ on that. I prefer up vs. on the rocks - but is there a "correct" approach, or is it just personal preference? Either way it's a fantastic cocktail, one of my new favs...
I like a drink with more volume, and make my Negroni with 2 oz gin to 1 oz sweet vermouth / Campari. So I did the same here, 2 oz gin 1 oz St Germaine / 1 oz Campari. Excellent balance and one I will definitely move into my regular rotation!
Fantastic variant of the Martini, love the balance vs. the traditional dry Martini recipe. I did NOT go light on the lime oil squeeze, but I'm a lime lover!
