A nice Appletini. Since it is getting to be Fall season here, I went with a local, fresh pressed apple cider instead of a commercial apple juice (apple cider is basically raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized apple juice). The apple flavor was very prominent and less sweet (most commercial apple juices have extra sugars added). If you use apple cider, double straining may be required if you want a "cleaner" cocktail due the extra apple pulp present in apple cider. I liked it with it present.
Great martini, but definitely not dry. A hint of sweetness from the apple juice, but it is cut with the vodka and calvados. Since there are only a few ingredients, you must use the best ingredients you can afford. The Americano blanco adds the flavours you would have gotten from vermouth, but with an interesting twist.
