Decided to celebrate the fall of Troy on 11 June but the Horse's Neck just looks like a whiskey buck so I searched on "Trojan Horse" and found a drink by that name at another UK cocktail site: https://www.cocktail.uk.com/cocktails/trojan-horse
This looks pretty much identical to "Weep No More" in Difford's guide, however, which has a 1939 citation. Which is it: Trojan Horse or Weep No More? Either way, it's pretty good.
Thanks for the digging, Chris. I did indeed enjoy my Weep No More this evening!
Random factoid re Zarathustra aka Zoroaster - an ancient middle eastern religion, and arguably ancestor to all the monotheistic religions - its supreme god referred to as Ahura Mazda (signifying ultimate good) - gave us the name for Mazda motor cars. The executives chose it as a reference to transformation and wisdom, and for its auditory resemblance to the founder’s name, Matsuda.
